Despite frigid temperatures, Mercy students traveled to Washington, D.C. for the 49th Annual March for Life on January 21, 2022. Marchers walked from the National Mall to the Supreme Court to peacefully protest the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in all 50 states for any reason. You can watch a timelapse video of the March here.

 

Prior to the March, students attended an outdoor concert and rally at the National Mall, which featured numerous speakers, including Fr. Mike Schmitz. While marching, Mercy joined Regina High School and Catholic Central High School in praying for an end to abortion. On the way home from the March, they made a pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio.

 

Students in attendance were: Anna Boesch, Anna Burns, Michaela Fitzsimons, Keni Lavigne, Gabby McDonnell, and Kamryn Swickard; they were accompanied by chaperone Mrs. Lauren Marquard. Thank you for being women who make a difference, advocating for the Mercy values of Human Dignity and Justice!
