OFFICE OF MISSION & MINISTRY
We are excited to share with you the formation of our Office of Mission and Ministry, formerly known as Campus Ministry. This change is a result of feedback from our recent strategic planning efforts. The Mercy 2023-2027 Strategic Plan was developed in partnership with stakeholder input (students, parents, teachers, support staff, department chairs, administrators, board members and alumnae). During this planning process, enhancing the Mission and Catholic Identity of our school were main critical issues identified among stakeholders.
We have identified a need to increase community understanding of how our Mercy charism and mission relates to our Catholic Identity, and how to ensure that all stakeholders are informed, included and feel supported to participate in this effort. Through the Office of Mission and Ministry, we will increase our active spiritual presence and understanding of our charism within our Mercy school, the local Farmington Hills community, the Archdiocese of Detroit, and the Metro Detroit area.
We welcome our highly qualified team members who will lead the Office of Mission and Ministry. We encourage you to learn more about the unique skill sets and experiences each of these newly assigned team members bring to their role.
-
Director of Ministry and Catholic Identity/Mary Kate Becker will assist our community in connecting the Mercy Core Values and Mission to our Catholic faith, develop student ministerial leaders, and enhance staff, student and family spiritual experiences.
-
Director of Mission Integration/Alison Kline-Kator ‘97, Ed.D will assist students, staff and our larger community in connecting Mercy Core Values to our charism and Mission through the integration of curricular, co-curricular and spiritual experiences.
-
Director of Faith in Action/Holly Markiecki-Bennetts will connect students to service opportunities of personal interest that are reflective of our faith, Mercy Critical Concerns, Core Values and Mission so they may be better inspired to be a beacon of Christ’s love for others. Mrs. Bennetts will continue to service a reduced caseload of students within the Counseling Department.
The Office will be represented at Board of Trustees meetings, the President’s Cabinet, and Mercy administrator planning meetings. This is an important component in ensuring our Mission and Catholic Identity continue to be prioritized in all policy formation. This team will also provide guidance as we prepare for our upcoming Mercy Education Mission Accountability Self-Study and Review. This process allows us to showcase how our school is rooted in the Gospel through the Catholic faith and the Mercy charism.
Thank you for holding these team members in prayer as they transition our traditional Campus Ministry to a more integrated mission based approach in response to the valued feedback we have received from our many stakeholders.
