Class of 2024 Painted Parking Spot Fundraiser & Information
Hello Seniors!
The Senior Personalized Parking Spot fundraiser allows you to express your creativity and gives you a personalized space for parking. (We all know the feeling of trying to find a parking spot 5 minutes before the bell rings.) With your own parking spot (that only you can park in), you'll never have to deal with that again!
The money raised from the parking spots will go toward prom and other Senior class activities throughout the year, with the majority of the money allowing us to have more space at the Roostertail.
You will be able to choose a parking spot and paint a design onto your chosen parking spot. You have seen the ideas the past few years and now it’s our turn.
We are so excited to continue this fundraiser, and we hope you are all as excited as we are! We really want to make this the best Senior year and we think our painted parking lot would be a great way to pull into school.
We have sections by both the Flagpole and the Auditorium/Gym entrances. We would like you to draw the design that you would like to paint on your spot. As usual, no profanity or inappropriate images or drawings. (It's on school property, it must be school appropriate.) Click links below for the available parking spaces and request form.
The spot you receive is designated on a first come first serve by email submission basis. We will do our best to make sure everyone has their preferred spot. On the bottom of the form, there is a space to fill out your first, second, and third spot choice.
- Cost: $80 (Due before you start painting/on the first day of painting.)
- Pay online here
- Make check payable to Mercy High School
- Bring cash on the first day of painting
Payment is due to the Senior Moderators before you start painting. This cost covers the parking spot, paint rollers for the base coat and professional covering of the spot at the end of the school year. You will NOT have to paint over your spot in May.
Paint: All paint is provided by YOU. It usually takes 1 gallon of paint for the base coat and it MUST be exterior latex paint. *If black is your base coat, you can skip that step! We will have rollers available.
Painting Days: Base coat and the beginning of your designs on Saturday, August 12 from 10am - 2pm. Your base coat must be painted on this day and all money paid. This process takes about 1 hour. Please plan accordingly and bring brooms, blowers, etc., to help clean off your spots.
The designs will be allowed to be painted for a one-week period at your own convenience: August 14 - August 20. However, you MUST start your design on the designated base coat painting day. There will be a sign-up genius sent out prior to the painting day for you to sign-up for painting at your convenience. You may sign-up the day of or just before you paint; we simply want to know who is on campus for safety reasons.
Any changes to the designs after approval via email notification must be approved. If anything is painted that is NOT approved, you will be responsible for paying the cost to cover up your design without a refund of your cost for the fundraiser.
Extra info/items to bring:
- Gloves
- Make sure to wear clothes that you can get dirty!
- Paintbrush(es) for more detailed designs
If you have any questions, please send an email to 2024officers@mhsmi.org or to seniormoderator@mhsmi.org.
Designs: Designs must be sent to seniormoderator@mhsmi.org by Wednesday, August 10, 2023. Other dates and times are being finalized and an email will be sent out as soon as possible. We are so excited about this, and we hope for a lot of participation! Remember, this is for PROM.
Here are some super cool examples of what you could do. (BE YOU!) You are welcome to design a design with the person in the spot next to you as a partner design, but there will be lines you cannot paint over and we cannot promise spots next to the friend you plan to do the design with, but we will try our hardest if designs are submitted together to place you together. Have a backup plan.
Requirements:
-
The yellow parking lines must not be painted over leaving four inches on either side of the yellow lines so that the parking spot is well-defined. These guides will be marked off by us prior to the base painting day.
-
If there are paint spills, YOU will be responsible for cleaning them up.
-
Moving forward, there will be no leftover paint stored on campus.
-
Any leftover paint will need to be disposed of in the proper manner:
-
A paint hardener will need to be used before disposing of leftover paint in a Mercy waste container.
-
Take paint home and dispose of it.
-
Drop cloths, canvas or plastic tarps, and/or cardboard can be used to mix paint near the parking spot.
-
You will not be allowed to enter the building to use the bathrooms, wash up, etc. Please plan accordingly.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and please get your parking spot designs submitted as soon as possible!
Thank you,
Your Class of 2024 Class Officers
