Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week at Mercy

Catholic Schools Week is an annual nationwide celebration of Catholic education in the United States. The theme is "Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed." Each day of the week celebrates various aspects of our Catholic school community. Here are some of the special highlights of activities at Mercy.

Mass
You are invited to Mercy High School for our Catholic Schools Week Mass on Tuesday, January 29 at 9:30am in the Auditorium. Worship with us as we celebrate being a Catholic school and show special appreciation for those living out their vocation as a priest or religious sister.

Daily Theme Activities
Our Mercy school community will be having some fun, daily surprise events to celebrate being a Catholic School. Themes for the day include:

Monday - Celebrating Community: A Student Council produced video greeting will be sent to other Catholic schools in the Archdiocese.
Tuesday - Celebrating Vocations: Members of Student Council will also be delivering a special thank you to the Sisters of Mercy next door. Plus...Senior Alumnae Luncheon.
Wednesday - Celebrating Staff: Special treats and surprises!
Thursday - Celebrating the Nation: Student Council will be facilitating a station in the Media Center for students to write thank you notes to veterans. Members of Student Council will take a special thank you treat to the Farmington Hills Police and Fire Departments. Student and staff representatives from Mercy will attend the Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic Schools Week Mass at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Plus...OPEN HOUSE for prospective families from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
Friday - Celebrating Students: Students have a Catholic Schools spirit dress day. Tops may be from any Catholic school (grade school, high school, or college), and bottoms may be solid or Catholic school sweats or joggers, jeans, or uniform skirt. Student winners of the Lucky Lunches provided by staff will receive their goodies. All proceeds from Lucky Lunch ticket sales benefit the Mercy Girl Effect efforts to plant trees in Kenya.

Honor an Educator
Help us recognize an outstanding educator during Catholic Schools Week! Express your appreciation for those at Mercy who have made a difference in your life! Visit mhsmi.org/donate to make a gift and leave a message of gratitude to the teacher you wish to honor in the comment section. During Catholic Schools Week 2019, we will surprise them with your words of appreciation. Your Tribute Gift will help our Annual Fund which supports campus operating costs, tuition assistance, scholarships, specialized academic programs and highly trained faculty and teaching staff.

Senior Class-Alumnae Luncheon

Alumna-mothers are invited to participate in a special Sisterhood Luncheon for the Class of 2019.
Senior Class-Alumnae Luncheon

Tuesday, January 29, 2019
11:30 am - 2:00 pm
Glen Oaks
30500 W 13 Mile Rd
Farmington Hills, MI 48334
Registration required

Please consider attending this luncheon to answer questions about life after high school in relation to college, careers, and more. Alumnae truly enjoyed meeting students and other graduates at last year's event! (Note: If you are the mother of a senior, you will not necessarily be seated with your daughter, because one of the goals of the event is to encourage networking.)
