EMILY FISHWICK '04
Emily Fishwick ‘04, CPA, began her accounting career over a decade ago working for a small business tax and accounting firm in metro Detroit. She left to work in the corporate world before taking a position as controller for a local health care company with clinics specializing in integrated care with a focus on mental health services for Detroit’s underserved populations.
She opened Sykes, PLLC in 2021, named after her grandfather, to focus on tax and accounting services for individuals, small businesses and nonprofits. She has always been active in various nonprofit organizations, including sitting on the Mercy High School Finance Committee, and is thankful she can merge that passion with her accounting skill set.
Emily holds a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Michigan. Prior to that she obtained her bachelor's degree also from Michigan in anthropology-zoology and her first jobs were in national parks - first at the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and then at Denali in Alaska where she worked at their sled dog kennel. She was lucky enough to adopt a retired Alaskan sled dog which began her love of senior dog adoption. She is active in multiple dog rescue organizations and has an ever rotating roster of foster dogs at her house in addition to her two current permanent residents - Mac and Frankie.
