D1 No. 3 Mercy holds off D2 No. 10 Divine Child 79-70 in thriller
Despite losing a 16-point lead in the last six minutes of regulation, Division 1 No. 3-ranked Farmington Hills Mercy regrouped to hold off Division 2. No. 10-ranked and Catholic High School League Central Division girls basketball rival Dearborn Divine Child in overtime 79-70, and remain unbeaten.
Quiz Bowl Meet
On January 11, Mercy Quiz Bowl sent 6 teams to its league meet at U of D. Both JV Maroon and Novice Gold finished with a perfect 3-0 record for the day, soundly defeating their competition and increasing their league standings:
Varsity Gold 4-2 (8th place)
Varsity Maroon 0-6 (16th place)
JV Gold 3-3 (9th place)
JV Maroon 4-1 (5th place)
Novice Gold 4-1 (2nd place)
Novice Maroon 1-4 (6th place)
2023 REGIONAL SCHOLASTIC ART AWARDS
Congratulations to the 21 students from Mercy’s Art Department who won 30 awards in this year’s Regional Scholastic Art Awards competition. This year, 4,500 works were entered in the Southeast Michigan and Thumb region and 1,100 received an award.

Emma May '23 Pro Swim Debut
Congratulations to Emma May '23 who made her pro swim series debut at the University of Tennessee Allen Jones Intercollegiate Natatorium TYR Pro Series. Emma was in the water competing with 29 Olympians, 10 Olympic Gold Medalist, 9 American Record Holders and some of the best swimmers in the world from many different countries. She competed in the 100m breaststroke and finished 31st and the 50m Breaststroke qualifying for Finals and finishing 24th overall.
