Dean of Student Affairs Update & Open Position 2024-25

Many of you may have already heard that our beloved Dean of Student Affairs, Mrs. Eleasha Mercer Tarplin ‘94, will be leaving Mercy High School at the end of this school year. Eleasha and her husband Darryl are relocating to Alabama to begin their next life adventure together!

National Honor Society Scholarship Semifinalist

Congratulations to Carrington Wash '24 who was selected as an NHS Scholarship Semifinalist for the National Honor Society Scholarship for making an impact through scholarship, service, leadership and character. She was one of only 600 NHS Seniors out of 16K+ applicants!

Quiz Bowl 2024 Local League Season Recap

Mercy Quiz Bowl wrapped up its local league season and gathered for its annual banquet on February 20. There, the team celebrated Emily Capatina '26, Alyssa Chavez '26, Miranda Lebednick '24, Chisom Nwoke '25, and Sophia Segars '24, who officially received their Varsity Letters for their outstanding performance over the past calendar year. We are also pleased to recognize the members of Mercy's six Quiz Bowl teams:

Catholic Educator Award

AP Government Courtroom Experience with Judge Stephen Murphy III

Ms. Richter's AP Government class was graciously welcomed into the courtroom of Judge Stephen Murphy III, U.S. District Court judge for the Eastern District of Michigan. The students witnessed several criminal proceedings that helped to illustrate the topics being learned in their class. They were also able to hear from a career defense attorney on defending the Constitutional rights of everyone as well as a prosecuting attorney on her career in the field of law.

A Night of Champions

It was a memorable evening celebrating and presenting rings to our State Championship Golf, Swim & Dive and Volleyball teams and honoring Coach Kowalski as Coach of the Year and Campbell Flynn '25 Gatorade Volleyball Michigan Player of the Year!

2024 National Merit Scholarship Finalist

Congratulations to Kelsey VanDenBerg '24 who was named a Finalist in the 2024 Competition for National Merit Scholarship Awards!

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Approximately 1.5 million high school students enter the program each year.

The selection of some 7,000+ Merit Scholarship winners from the group of more than 15,000 Finalists is now in progress. Winners will be announced April - June 2024.
