Farmington Hills Mercy built an early lead and cruised to a 52-28 victory over host Livonia Ladywood in girls basketball Tuesday.
The Marlins led 18-7 after one quarter and 26-11 at halftime. Mercy outscored Ladywood in the first and third quarters combined, 30-9, and was ahead at the end of three, 38-13.
“It was nice to see us bounce back after seeing us lose to Marian last Friday,” Mercy coach Gary Morris said. “We played four pretty solid quarters.
“It was nice to have a number of people contribute offensively. That definitely helped our cause. We were sound defensively as well.”
Jackie Bauer led the Marlins with 12 points. Katie Bryce and Katie Coe scored six each.
Everybody scored for Mercy, which improved to 3-1 in the Catholic League Central Division and 6-4 overall.
In the wake of Marian’s 37-35 loss to host Regina on Tuesday, there is a three-way tie for the division lead between Mercy, Marian and Regina.
Jenna Schluter had a team-high seven rebounds. Bryce also had four steals.
Ally Audia posted a game-high 17 points for the Blazers, who are 0-3 in the division and 3-6 in all games.
