Mercy track meet
Farmington Hills Mercy had four individual winners and a first-place relay team Tuesday in a 69-59 loss to Livonia Ladywood in girls track and field.
In the sprints, Ogechi Nwaopara and Hannah Blakey won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 14.87 and 30.42 seconds, respectively.
Arianna Allman won the high jump at 5 feet. Mia Flynn was first in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.68. Nwaopara, Blakey and Flynn also teamed up with Lauren Boggs to win the 800 relay in 2:00.71.
Mercy’s Lauren Lytle and Bianca Berger had a pair of second places. Lytle was the runner-up in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs with times of 6:12.16 and 13:29.75. Berger threw the shot put 26-11.5 and the discus 80-4.
Nwaopara was second in the 400 sprint (1:06.44), Blakey the 100 dash (14.99), Allman the 300 hurdles (57.29) and Flynn the long jump (14.7-5). Julie Lilley also was second in the 800 run (3:04.73).
“We’ve got a lot of younger kids who are trying to step up at the varsity level,” Mercy coach Gary Servais said. “We ran hard, but Ladywood ran harder. Hopefully, we can improve when we see them again.”
The Marlins won a dual meet Saturday over visiting Detroit Country Day, 70-58. Allysen Eads was a double winner in the 1,600 and 800 races with times of 5:32.5 and 2:37.3.
Allman won the high jump (5-2) and Ann Mark the discus (68-6). Flynn was first in the 100 hurdles (14.21). Ogechi, Boggs, Jordan Tomei and Blakey won the 800 (1:54.4) and the 1,600 (4:32.6) relays.
The Marlins also reached the finish line ahead of the Yellowjackets in the 3,200 relay as Lytle, Betsy Mikula, Kaitlin McHenry and Lilley ran 11:27.

Girls lacrosse win
Brooke Ottaway scored a game-high five goals Saturday as Farmington Hills Mercy edged visiting South Lyon, 10-9.
Caitlin Somerville netted two goals for the Marlins; Natalie Masopust, Taylor Gibney and Erin Gormley contributed one apiece to the win.
The Marlins had great center play from Lilly Blake, and Hannah Cohen played well in the goalie position, according to coach Lindsay Hoyt.
She added the team had a good defensive effort from Mary Allor, Mia Bowen, Hannah Roegner, Jensen Pecora and Bella Shrader.
Hannah Burczyk scored three goals for the Lions. Gabrielle Larkin and Caroline Perry netted two each, Jordan Hanner and Samantha LeFevere one.
