IMPORTANT REMINDERS & UPDATES 5/5/26 COMMUNICATION

END OF THE SEMESTER DATES & INFO

Friday, May 15

Senior English papers are due by 11:59 PM.

ALL senior work must be submitted and graded by midnight (Friday, May 15) except for final exams/projects/presentations.

There will not be a “no testing period” for seniors, but once a final experience is completed, classwork can be given and graded, but further homework (work to complete, additional reading, preparation for a quiz or test) should not be extensive. This will allow students time to work on other presentations, projects, and prepare for final exams.

May 18 - May 20  Senior Final Exam days: 

A final exam experience for Seniors needs to occur on one of these days. Seniors are required to be present in class on May 18, 19, and 20 for final presentations, review days, or final exams/papers. This will be determined by the classroom teacher. Seniors will be able to come and go as they please, but must enter and exit the lobby doors after school begins at 8:00 am. Some sample scenarios: 1) A senior could have a review day on Monday, and the exam on Tuesday and therefore would be expected in class on both days, 2) A final paper could be turned in on May 15 and the Senior would not need to attend class since the final experience is complete, 3) Final presentations are held May 18-20 and all students are expected to be in class all days to present or critique other student presentations, 4) A final exam is given May 19 and students do not attend on May 20.

Thursday, May 21

Honors Convocation, Adviser Parties, and Moving Up

ALL SENIORS ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN ATTENDANCE ON THURSDAY, MAY 21 FOR MERCY DAY OF CELEBRATION. 

THIS DAY IS TO CELEBRATE YOU - THE CLASS OF 2026. 

**SENIORS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE AT HONORS CONVOCATION TO PARTICIPATE IN ADVISER PARTIES AND MOVING UP.

May 28, 2025 Final Grades Due

Senior Final Grades are due by Wednesday, May 27, at 9 am. Transcripts will be sent to the college designated on the Senior Survey on Tuesday, June 2, 2025. Please check the Class of 2026 link on Mercy’s webpage for all other Senior dates and deadlines.

All graduating seniors and parents/guardians need to submit the following participation consent form by May 15, 2026 in order to attend the SANP.
We need many hands to make this evening enjoyable and safe for our girls! Your time and effort make a huge difference in ensuring everything runs smoothly.
We have some great activities planned for our seniors and in order to make it a memorable night - we need your support! The graduation fee does not cover the full cost of the SANP, so we welcome your donations.

GRADUATION GOWN APPROVAL

In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, every student must have her white graduation gown approved by Dr. Kreger or her assistant, Mrs. Wojcik. Graduation gown requirement letter found here. Please bring the dress to the Advancement Office or send a picture of the front and back of the dress, or a picture of you wearing the dress to cdkreger@mhsmi.org or mmwojcik@mhsmi.org

GRADUATION TICKET PICK UP

This is a reminder of the 3/23/26 communication here in regard to graduation tickets, requirements, extra ticket request form and more. Each Senior will receive eight graduation tickets and may pick up tickets beginning Friday, May 1. The extra ticket request form requiring a parent signature can be found here

May 1: End of Year Promise Due: An agreement that you will represent Mercy well in all of the end of year activities, including but not limited to, prom, Moving Up & graduation. If you do not submit the promise, you cannot participate in end of the year activities.

Doors open at 7 p.m., you must be in by 7:30 p.m. 
Cost: $95/person, $190/couple (cash ticket price increases, see more info below) 
  • How do I buy tickets? Click this link and follow the instructions carefully. 
  • When do online ticket sales end? Wednesday, April 29 at 11:59 p.m. 
  • What if I miss the online ticket sale deadline? Bring $105 per ticket ($210/couple), CASH or CHECK ONLY, to Ms. Richter to purchase tickets in person on Thursday, April 30th or Friday, May 1st.
  • What if I will have the money but I don't right now? Please reach out to the Senior Moderators as soon as possible to discuss what options may be available to you. 
  • What if I'm bringing a guest? Be sure to read the directions for purchasing tickets carefully. Also, be sure to complete this form and have it returned by Monday, May 11th  
  • What if I'm arriving and/or leaving on a party bus? Complete this form and return it by Monday, May 11th. 
  • When and how will I get the table form? The table forms will be emailed on Monday, April 27th and need to be returned by 8 a.m. on Friday, May 1st. There are 10 people per table - only one form per table needs to be completed. 
  • What if I tried to buy tickets online and it won't let me? Reach out to the Senior Moderators to see what is causing the hold to be placed on your ticket(s). Holds have been placed for: not having your End of the Year Promise in, detentions, Business Office, not having your service paper in and/or not having your 40 service hours in.

May 21: Mercy Celebration Day - Honors Convocation & Moving Up

  • All Seniors are expected to be in attendance for the full day for Adviser Parties, Honors Convocation and Moving Up. Students will wear their caps and gowns and should sign-in with their Adviser by 8:00am. If your daughter is absent from the Honors Convocation, she will not be allowed to participate in the Moving Up Ceremony. We would like to invite Senior Parents/Guardians to join us for the Honors Convocation at 8:45am.

May 28: Mandatory Graduation Practice

Detroit Opera House (1526 Broadway St, Detroit 48226)

Arrival: 9:45am

  • Graduation practice is mandatory. If a student is not present, they will not be allowed to participate in the Graduation ceremony.
  • Parking is located at the Detroit Opera House Parking Center at 1426 Broadway Street and Graduates should enter the garage at the John R Gate. Mercy will pay for the parking and Graduates must take a ticket and leave it in their car when they enter to receive validation.
  • When you arrive, enter through the Cadillac Cafe where your moderators will meet you and guide you backstage. It is located on the Madison side of the building.
  • Graduates are asked to please dress appropriately and bring the dress shoes to be worn at Graduation.
  • To avoid conflicts, please do not make appointments until after 1pm. We may run over the scheduled time, and all Graduates must stay until practice is completed.
  • All Graduation gowns must be approved by rehearsal in order to participate in the Graduation ceremony. If you haven't already done so, you will be contacted to please bring the dress to the Advancement Office or send a picture of the front and back of the dress, or a picture of you wearing the dress to cdkreger@mhsmi.org or mmwojcik@mhsmi.org.

May 31: Graduation Ceremony

Detroit Opera House (1526 Broadway St, Detroit 48226)

Graduate Arrival: 1:00pm (Stage Doors off Madison)

Guests with Accommodation Arrival: 1:00pm (Doors on either side of Opera House)

Guest Arrival: 1:15pm

Ceremony: 2:00pm

  • Graduates are asked to please check their Mercy email for last minute updates and instructions.
  • We kindly ask you allow extra time for travel, traffic and arrival downtown as the Grand Prix is also taking place. This shouldn’t affect parking. They have the Detroit Opera House Parking Center (1426 Broadway Street) designated for Mercy and guests should use the John R Gate Entrance. Please note there is a $20 parking fee per vehicle payable by credit card only.
  • A ticket is required for entry and all graduates should have their respective tickets.
  • Graduates must be at the venue by 1:00pm and will enter through the stage/security doors off Madison.
  • Entry for those individuals with an early access pass due to accessibility accommodations begins at 1:00pm. Doors on either side of the Detroit Opera House will be open at 1:15pm for family and guests to enter the building. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • To preserve the dignity of the event and due to the lack of security backstage, Graduates should please leave their cell phones and personal belongings with a family member. 
  • Please plan to meet your graduate after the ceremony. Guests will not be able to re-enter the Opera House after exiting.
  • The ceremony will be livestreamed and recorded. Each Graduate will receive an individual Vimeo link to download and save the ceremony recording.

Special Reminder

Please note we respectfully request your assistance to ensure the dignity of our ceremony. Each Graduate will have a final reflection read aloud upon receiving her diploma. In order to give every outstanding Graduate the respect deserved, we kindly request all applause be held until the end of the ceremony and guests refrain from cheering or making other noise while Graduates cross the stage. Thank you for your part in making this celebration special and beautiful for our Graduates!
