Class of 2023 Valedictorians
The Mercy Class of 2023 Valedictorians selected by fellow classmates, teachers and administration are Allison Flynn and Angelina Hamati. Both were chosen for this honor because of their outstanding academic and co-curricular achievements.
Allison Flynn
Congratulations to Mercy Valedictorian Allison Flynn. Allison realizes that to be called a fellow Mercy sister requires working on relationships and being a beacon of light to others. Her peers specifically note that she is inclusive in her interactions with peers, and is thoughtful in ensuring everyone is seen and knows they are an essential part of our community. Allison’s Mercy sisters say she is relatable, helpful and supportive, and a strong leader who inspires others. A teacher shared that through her actions, Allison lifts others and sets a positive tone in class.
She is a Science Club leader, Women in STEM Club Leader/Founder, Cultural Cuisine Club Leader/Founder, Link Crew Leader, Yearbook Copy Editor, Kairos Leader, National Honor Society Officer, Spanish Honor Society Member and Senior Class Officer.
Academically, Allison graduates Summa Cum Laude, and received the President's Education Award. Allison’s Mercy transcript reflects her academic excellence in taking multiple honors and 5 AP courses, resulting in a solid 4.0 GPA.
We congratulate Alison on being Mercy Valedictorian and wish her the best as she plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall. Although her ultimate career path is yet to be decided, she is resolute that at the heart of her career, whether in psychology, business, or a focus on STEM, she will work diligently to generate support for the empowerment of women in the workplace.
Angelina Hamati
Congratulations to Mercy Valedictorian Angelina Hamati. Angelina’s strong pursuit of service and advocacy for others has been a hallmark characteristic of her time at Mercy. Her Mercy sisters describe her as driven, focused and inspiring. Guided by her faith, she is passionate on issues of diversity and inclusivity, championing for the voice of others to be present in all conversations and ensuring through her interactions that the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy are reflected in her work.
During her time at Mercy, Angelina has served as a Human Relations Council Representative, Genes in Diseases and Symptoms Club Leader, White Coats of the Future Leader, KAIROS Leader, Spanish Honors Society Member and HOSA member. She has used her skills to support others, founding the Hamati Helps tutoring service where donations collected were given to the United Nations Refugee Agency. Most recently, Angelina planned and coordinated the in-school fundraiser to support victims of the devastating earthquake that impacted central Turkey and Northern and Western Syria. $2,300 was raised and donated to Doctors Without Borders to support medical recovery efforts.

Angelina is an exceptional student who has courageously embraced academic opportunities available at Mercy. We congratulate Angelina on being Mercy Valedictorian and wish her the best as she plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall. She plans to major in Biochemistry with an ultimate goal of becoming a surgeon who is compassionately attentive to patients’ needs.
