Farmington Hills Mercy Wins Third D2 Crown
No. 2-ranked Farmington Hills Mercy wins first D2 championship since 2001
No. 2-ranked Farmington Hills Mercy topped the field to win its first Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 Girls Golf Championship since 2001 and its third overall on Friday-Saturday October 14-15 at Forest Akers West Golf Course at Michigan State University.
Mercy finished the two day tournament with a score of 684, ahead of No. 1-ranked South Lyon's 711. No 7-ranked Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern was third at 723.
No. 3-ranked Byron Center was foruth at 726. No. 6-ranked Grosse Pointe North was fifth at 756.
Mercy was led by sophomore Maeve Casey's 159, finished fourth. Senior Chloe Vig shot 166 for ninth place. Sophomore Lila Polakowski finished at 178. Junior Abby Slankster shot 181.
Byron Center junior Macie Elzinga shot 148 to earn medalist honors.
