Over Easter, 15 Mercy Latin students and families embarked on a 10-day trip through Italy! Students learned about the Roman Empire's reach and the influence of the Latin language throughout all of Europe. Highlights included:
- studying the incredible Greek and Roman sculptures at the Vatican Museum
- marveling at the Sistine Chapel and praying in St. Peter's Basilica
- touring an ancient Roman olive grove and tasting authentic olive oil
- learning how to make mozzarella cheese
- swimming in the Mediterranean Sea
- strolling through the winding streets of Matera, Ostuni, and Alberobello
- attending a Roman cooking class, learning how to make pasta, and enjoying the fruits of our labor
- reciting Latin poetry in an ancient Roman theater
It was a fun, educational, and life-changing experience for all who traveled! Visit https://www.facebook.com/mercyjcl/ for more photos. For further information about Mercy's Latin program and how you can get involved, please contact Mrs. Lauren Marquard.
