French Honor Society Service Project
The French Honor Society 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year level French students participated in a service project to benefit the Georges Stines Haiti Scholarship Program. They raised $629 for to the education of Haiti children who otherwise would not be able to afford it. This generous donation will cover the tuition cost for four children. In addition, Mercy French students collected school supplies to help the children finish the year with proper materials. Mme Campbell presented the backpacks, pencils, pens, rulers, folders paper, erasers and more to Mme Stines for the students.
We are very proud of our Mercy students who contributed to this service project for Haitian students. We are planning to donate much of the proceeds from the French Honor Society February Bake Sale to the Haitian tuition assistance fund.
Mr. Stines sent the French students an acknowledgement thanking them for their contributions. Mr Stines, President of the George Stines Foundation, states that “We are educating the future generation of Haitian children and hopefully contributing to the improvement of the country." Thank you to his Granddaughter; Milena Chevalier, current French student in Honors French 2, who played a significant role in directing and coordinating these efforts.
