In June 2021, the White House announced their nomination of Attorney Jia Cobb for United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. On October 27, 2021, she received confirmation from the United States Senate. With her confirmation, Judge Cobb is now only the fourth Black woman ever appointed to this Court. Jia received her B.A. from Northwestern University in 2002 and J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School where she served as Coordinating Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Read more about her nomination here.
