Class of 2028 Faith in Action Program
“We should be as shining lamps, giving light to all.” - Catherine McAuley
Welcome to the Mercy family!
I am the Director of Faith in Action and one of the aspects of my work is to help students identify their gifts and talents in order to make meaningful connections to volunteer opportunities. An underlying theme of a Mercy Catholic school is to educate the student academically, while also helping her make the world a better place, one act of service at a time. The Faith in Action program helps each student share her light with the world. (Matthew 5:14-16)
The Class of 2028 is the first class to experience our new Faith in Action program. We will provide more detailed information regarding requirements in the fall. Many Mercy students engage in service over the summer. This letter includes options in the event you want to begin your service this summer. Please note, any work you complete this summer will count toward the service requirements so long as the work is performed in direct service at a non-profit organization.
Throughout the year, Mercy High School works with various organizations to share our gifts and talents. This list of possible service sites is updated regularly as opportunities become available and can serve as an important resource of ideas for you.
Finally, our students log their service hours using a program called Mobile Serve. New students will have access to Mobile Serve once they receive their iPads and Mercy email address. Earned summer hours can be logged at that time. Please make sure you keep track of the following information to easily log hours:
-
Name of Service Organization
-
Dates of Service
-
Hours of Service
-
Supervisor Name (not parent, if you have a question, please reach out).
-
Supervisor Email
If you receive a certificate or letter for your service, this can be uploaded via the document upload in Mobile Serve. If you have questions about service opportunities, please do not hesitate to reach out and I will respond as my summer schedule allows.
We are excited about these new changes that better support students putting their Faith into Action! I look forward to walking with you through your Mercy journey.
Peace,
Mrs. Holly Markiecki-Bennetts
