Mercy Dads & Daughters Service Project
The Mercy Dads' Club has coordinated with the Pope Francis Center in Detroit to offer up volunteer opportunities for daughters with their dads. This is a great opportunity for your daughters to earn their required service hours. The volunteer opportunities will take place on Saturday mornings at the Pope Francis Center, currently located at the TCF Center in Detroit.
The mission of the Pope Francis Center is as follows: Feeding. Serving. Empowering. Located in the heart of downtown Detroit, the Pope Francis Center provides vital services to the city’s homeless. On an average day, we welcome nearly 200 guests and provide them with nutritious meals, showers, laundry and access to doctors, dentists, lawyers, and housing providers through our free clinics. We have been serving Detroit’s most vulnerable citizens for the past 30 years, and we’re committed to eradicating chronic homelessness by 2030.
The time for this volunteer opportunity is 6:45am to 11:00am. The work required will vary from set up and clean up, preparing and serving breakfast, laundry, and assisting the homeless with supplies from the main office.
In order to provide an opportunity for everyone who wishes to participate, there are opportunities available on March 27, April 3, April 10, April 17, and April 24. If anyone is interested, we can add dates in May as needed.
