With the first semester coming to a close, we are incredibly grateful for your prayers and partnership allowing Mercy to best accommodate our young women learning with the hybrid model. The plan for returning to school after the Christmas break will once again focus on learning in an environment that ensures the health and safety of the Mercy community.
We anticipate that some families will choose to gather outside of their households for Christmas and New Year celebrations. Guidance from the CDC indicates that most COVID-19 symptoms will present within 10 days of exposure. To transition to a safe return, we will begin the first week of school remotely, and then resume our hybrid learning model. This assumes that the high school remote learning mandate is lifted, and that Mercy can allow for a safe return to in-person instruction.
Proposed Schedule:
- Monday, January 4 & Tuesday, January 5: Staff work days to prepare and support second semester instruction needs. No school for students.
- Wednesday, January 6, Thursday, January 7 & Friday, January 8: Full day remote instruction for all students. *Wednesday is not a Flex Day.
- Monday, January 11: Return to hybrid instruction with Cohort KC in-person and SF remote. The schedule will include the celebration of Mass for Cohort KC.
- Tuesday, January 12: Return to hybrid instruction with Cohort SF in-person and KC remote. The schedule will include the celebration of Mass for Cohort SF.
- Wednesday, January 13: Flex Day per the Mercy Hybrid Schedule.
- Thursday, January 14: In-person hybrid instruction with Cohort KC in-person and SF remote per the Mercy Hybrid Schedule.
- Friday, January 15: Staff professional development day, no school for students.
- Monday, January 18: No school in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
- Tuesday, January 19: In-person hybrid instruction with Cohort SF in-person and KC remote per the Mercy Hybrid Schedule.
We thank you for your flexibility and support given the uncertainty of how the pandemic may impact our January return to school plans.
We wish you and your family a joy-filled Christmas and Happy New Year!
