END OF THE SEMESTER DATES & POLICIES
GRADE 12 CLASS OF 2019
Senior Final Papers can be due May 8-15. There will not be a "no testing time period" for seniors but once a final experience is completed classwork can be given and graded but further homework (work to complete, additional reading, preparation for a quiz or test) should not be assigned. This will allow students time to work on other presentations, projects and prepare for final exams. On Wednesday, May 15 (midnight) ALL senior
work must be submitted and graded except final exams/projects/presentations.
Senior Final Exam days will be May 20, 21 & 22. A final exam experience for seniors needs to occur on one of these days. Seniors need to be present in class May 20, 21, 22 only for final presentations, review days or final exams/papers. This will be determined by the classroom teacher. Seniors will be able to come and go as they please but must enter and exit the Reception Area doors after school begins at 8:20. Some sample scenarios - 1) A senior
could have a review day on Monday, and the exam given on Wednesday and therefore would only be expected in class on Monday, May 20 and Wednesday, May 22; 2) A paper could be turned in May 11 and not need to attend class May 20-22 since the final experience is complete; 3) Final presentations are held May 20-22 and all students are expected to be in class all days to present or critique other student presentations; 4) A final exam is given May 21 and students attend May 20 for a review and do not attend on May 22.
Please note: If a final paper is due on one of the exam days the paper will be accepted between 8-2:30 on that day. It needs to be handed to the individual classroom teacher.
ALL SENIORS ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN ATTENDANCE ON THURSDAY, MAY 23 FOR MERCY DAY OF CELEBRATION. THIS DAY IS TO CELEBRATE YOU! SENIORS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE AT HONORS CONVOCATION IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN ADVISER PARTIES AND MOVING UP.
Honors Convocation
All seniors who have submitted scholarship information to Naviance or have earned awards will be called to the stage at Honors Convocation. An email will be sent to inform you if you will be honored. All students who have earned a 3.75 cumulative grade point average after 7 semesters will receive academic honors (Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude) and will be seated on the stage. Please check your 2018-19 Semester 1 report card on PowerSchool to verify your current cumulative GPA. 8th semester grades will not be factored in since certificates and medals need to be ordered and programs produced. Full cap and gown with tassel is needed to process in and walk across the stage. The college you will be attending in the fall will be read along with your awards. You will be given an opportunity to opt out of this announcement. You will receive a follow up email with a link to the opt out form. Opt out requests are due by Friday, May 10.
Senior Final Grades are due by Wednesday, May 29 at 9am. Transcripts will be sent to the college designated on the Senior Survey on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Please check the Class of 2019 link on Mercy's webpage for all other Seniordates

Rescheduling a Final Exam: Only under serious circumstances, that are out of the student's control, will a student be permitted to take an exam other than at the scheduled time. Students must initiate that request by completing and submitting a form (available at the Reception Area) to be signed by a parent, verifying the need for a change in test time, accompanied by appropriate documentation (i.e. medical documentation, airline tickets, etc...). The request must be submitted two weeks prior to the final and approved by the Associate Principal of Academic Affairs and the teacher involved.
If a student is simply changing the day/hour to ease their exam schedule on a given day, (but not to finish earlier) an email notification from the teacher, approving this arrangement, to Ms. McMaster is all that is necessary.
