Dear Parent/Guardians:
On behalf of your Mercy family, welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year! We are grateful for your choice in a Mercy education for your daughter(s) and we are very excited to walk with you in the path of this year's exciting adventures.
This year's enrollment has increased and aside from our freshman class, we welcome 25 students transferring from other schools. Several new team members have also joined our staff: Holly Markiecki-Bennetts (Guidance), Curt Klueg (Campus Ministry), Gina Gray '91(Special Events Coordinator) and Maria Siciliano Mueller (Director of Finance). Each brings to Mercy a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm for supporting our mission and values, and our strategic goals.
Although school strategic plans are continually evolving, the accreditation process for educational institutions requires an on-site review by representatives of the certifying agency every six years. Similar to many schools across the nation, Mercy is accredited through AdvancED. The AdvancED Engagement Review Team will visit Mercy in late March to assess our academic rigor, support programs for all students, and commitment to systemic improvement practices. We are proud to share with the review team our many successes, accomplishments and plans for future growth and improvement. This fall, students and parents will be provided an AdvancEd survey. I encourage your participation to ensure your voice is heard as we review the input to best align our programs with stakeholder feedback.
The Mercy experience is full of energy because we strive to educate the whole woman. During a recent Mass at my home parish, St. Joseph Trenton, the congregation welcomed a newborn into our community through the Sacrament of Baptism. The priest's blessing for this baby reminded me of the formation experiences we at Mercy provide for our students in relating Mercy mission and values, as reflected in the Critical Concerns - "May your eyes always see the injustices that impact those around you, may your voice then speak for those in need, and may your ears be open to the cry of the poor." We are proud to work in partnership with you as we continue to offer each student experiences to enrich their academic, spiritual and self-understanding.
Wishing you the best for a new school year. May God's Grace and Blessings be in your path,
Patricia Sattler
Principal
