Bravo! Thank YOU! Renovations in the Auditorium are beginning and we are off to a great start, but much more is still needed to make the necessary repairs and upgrades. Microphones are in, partial lighting has been ordered and the stage floor will be installed at the end of May. If you made a contribution to support the Auditorium renovation, you will be invited to a blessing of the stage during Mass the first day of school. Stay tuned!
Help us reach the goal to secure all auditorium and performing arts needs. Interested in owning a piece of the stage? $100 donors can receive a small piece of the stage floor and $1,000 donors can receive a larger piece. Stage pieces available during Reunion Weekend!
For 53 years, the Mercy auditorium has welcomed incoming freshmen on their first day of high school and sadly bid farewell to graduating seniors when they leave the auditorium for the last time after Moving Up.
In between these two events, numerous liturgies, assemblies, and performances have been held. Each of you has special memories whether you are a parent watching your daughter perform or a graduate who walked the stage or gathered for mass in the auditorium.
The Mercy Auditorium is in need of restoration. The stage floor has been sanded and refinished several times until the boards cannot take another repair. The light board and lighting is outdated and needs replacement with eco-friendly LED lighting. Wireless microphones used in the auditorium, media center and chapel will need to be replaced as the frequency has been sold and the current microphones will be useless.
At the Auction, generous donations totaling $93,000 were contributed to replace the wireless microphones, a portion of the lighting, and partial funds for replacing the stage floor. With a goal of $250,000 for renovating and updating the auditorium, we have a great start but much more is needed.
You are invited to invest in Mercy’s crown jewel, the Mercy Auditorium. Gifts of all sizes will help us reach our goal and restore an important part of Mercy High School. Please contact the Advancement Office at advancement@mhsmi.org if you are interested in making a contribution to receive a piece of the stage.
