Mercy High School Pool Restoration Project

May 3, 2017

We did it! Thanks to the support of swim families, parents, alumnae and friends we have met our fundraising goal to repair the Mercy pool. Stay tuned for information on the pool re-opening this summer. We will also be promoting and selling S'well Mercy water bottles to support the purchase of new pool flags. Go Marlins!

As we look toward the future, a committee will be formed to determine the feasibility of a campaign to build a new pool at Mercy High School. Listed below are communications sent out in regards to pool repairs and ways to give. Keep checking back for status updates!

April 5, 2017

We're almost there! Thanks to the generous gifts and pledges from Board Members, parents, alumnae and friends, we are nearing the amount needed to fully fund the repairs for the pool. Help us reach our goal and raise the last $10,000!  As funds have become available, repairs have been made. Any funds raised above our goal will support ongoing pool maintenance and projects. The pool has a tentative re-open date of June 2017.

Dear Mercy Parents/Guardians:

As you are aware, the Mercy pool is closed. We have worked with professionals to assess the current state of the pool and determine what is needed to repair or enhance the pool.

Larry Baker, Associate Principal, and Gary Bank, Site Manager, presented options at the Board of Trustees meeting last night and a discussion followed. After careful review of the data, the Board of Trustees and Administration have determined a two step approach for the Mercy pool. Step 1: Repairs will begin this month. The pool is scheduled to reopen for the 2017 fall season. Step 2: If there is a desire and financial backing, a more detailed plan will be made to raise funds for a new pool. If you're interested in this endeavor, please contact the Mercy Advancement Office.

The Mercy High School pool has a strong tradition including swim classes through Physical Education and an outstanding swim and dive program. We recognize and celebrate the importance of this legacy to our students, alumnae and Mercy High School.

We are immediately seeking support for step 1. At this time, with generous contributions made at the Auction and additional pool pledges, we are over halfway to the estimated $180,000 needed.

Please contact the Advancement Office at 248-893-3538 or click here to visit our pool crowdfunding web page to make your gift today.

Dear Alumnae and Friends of Mercy,

The Mercy High School pool and swim program have a proud and strong tradition including classes through Physical Education and an outstanding Swim and Dive Team. We recognize and celebrate the importance of this legacy to our students, alumnae and Mercy High School.

The Mercy pool is original to the current campus and has been maintained for 53 years. During Christmas break, it was discovered that there were several operational issues with the pool. Due to the severity, the pool has been closed. After professional assessments, we have determined the much needed repairs and cost to make the Mercy pool operational by the 2017 fall season.

Click here to learn more about the Mercy Pool projects for today and tomorrow!

Contributions from Mercy graduates will get the pool running, keep the girls swimming, and continue our Mercy Marlins legacy. The Mercy Swim and Dive Team boasts 8 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS (1972, 1998, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013), 50 Catholic League Championships and 18 Oakland County Championships.

Thanks to generous donations made at the Auction and donor support, we raised over half the required funds. We need additional help to finish the project and open the pool! Visit the crowd funding web page here to make your gift today. Please be sure to leave a cherished comment or your favorite swim memory.

YOU can make a difference!
