Dear Freshwomen Parents:
Since 2007, the United States Council of Catholic Bishops has required all high schools to present an educational program on personal safety to all of its 9th and 10th grade students. The program selected by the Archdiocese of Detroit for the 9th grade is "Called to Protect." The 9th grade program teaches teens how to recognize personal boundaries (physical, emotional, behavioral) and also how to respond if someone attempts to violate any of those boundaries.
Mercy will create some time during the school day on Friday, March 24, 2017 to present this program (using 1st, 5th and 6th hours). Classes will operate for all grade levels on this day as well. We can never do enough to educate young people about personal safety - what it is and how to create and maintain it. This day will contribute to the dialogue that you have with your daughter.
Sincerely,
Mercy High School Administration
