Our “GoEnnounce Yourself” Scholarship recipient provided by Upromise for the month of January is… Rochelle Chezick!
Rochelle is a junior at Mercy High School who looks at the bright side of things even if they don’t work out to her liking. She thoroughly enjoys spending time volunteering especially with the Sisters of Mercy after school singing songs and spending time with the elderly. Outside of volunteering she spends her time being an active member of the Youth Mercy Associates, Green Club, Link Crew, Mercy Mission Committee, and the Yoga Club. She’s also incredibly passionate about theatre and drama! Even with all this going on she still finds time to participate in Girl Scouts and babysit, there is no second wasted with Rochelle! Not only does her 100+ hours of volunteering prove merit to her philanthropic mindset but she has also been the recipient of the Youth Leadership Award for her 5th, 8th, and 9th grade year, along with the Silver Award. We can tell this student is ready to go the extra mile and continue to make a difference in society, as her future aspirations include either being a kindergarten teacher or neonatal intensive care unit nurse.
Throughout the month of January Rochelle displayed her willingness and desire to volunteer as well as her determination to exceed expectations academically. In the beginning of January she e-nnounced her love for being involved with the Sisters of Mercy and her drive to make this academic semester even better than the last! Next, she showed off her enthusiasm for broadcasting by e-nnouncing her grade for a radio commercial where she was only half of a point away from a perfect 100. To highlight even more involvement volunteering she displayed her endearment for the Sisters of Mercy by playing bingo one day after school with them. Then Rochelle’s love for forensic speech was shown. She placed 5th in a Forensics tournament for the category of Original Oratory, where she wrote and delivered her own speech. What a way to finish out the month! We know this service oriented and academically driven student will without a doubt make a difference in other’s lives no matter what she path she choose for her future. Dream big, Rochelle!
