Senior Anna Julien and sophomore Emily McCann scored goals Tuesday night as Farmington Hills Mercy won its third straight game in girls ice hockey with a 2-1 win over Livonia Ladywood at Eddie Edgar Arena.
Sophomore Maddie Jones assisted on both goals. Junior goalie Caitlin Somerville played all but one of the 45 minutes and got credit for the victory.
The Marlins, who broke a 1-1 tie in the third period, lead the Michigan Metro Girls High School Hockey League's Division 2 with a 12-2-1 record.
Katie Hayward scored for the Blazers with assists from Jackie Kristofik and Jill Jacobs. Michaela Warner made 31 saves.
Ladywood is 11-4-0 and tied for third place in Division 1 with Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood, trailing unbeaten Grosse Pointe South (13-0) and Grosse Pointe University Liggett (12-2).
In a game played Monday at Eddie Edgar Arena, Jones scored two goals in Mercy's 4-0 win over Plymouth-Canton-Salem.
McCann and sophomore Sophie Van Acker also put the puck in the net for the Marlins. Senior Julia McAree and sophomore Hannah Hamilton had one assist each.
Mercy led 3-0 after two periods. The fourth-place Penguins are 6-8-0 in Division 2.
