2026 GREECE TRIP

At the beginning of June, 40 Mercy Latin students and parents went on a magnificent 10-day journey to Greece! Through immersive cultural experiences and firsthand encounters with both mythology and history, students deepened their understanding of the Greco-Roman world and the enduring influence of classical languages. Highlights included:
- Studying the birthplace of democracy at the ancient Acropolis in Athens
- Standing on the battlefield of Thermopylae, where the 300 Spartans made their legendary stand
- Visiting the Sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi and learning about the famous Oracle
- Marveling at the breathtaking monasteries of Meteora
- Exploring Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great
- Walking among the perfectly-preserved royal tombs at Vergina
- Admiring the towering slopes of Mount Olympus, home of the Greek gods in ancient mythology
- Swimming in the blue waters of the Aegean Sea
- Discovering the rich history of Thessaloniki, from its Roman monuments to Byzantine churches
- Celebrating Greek culture during an evening of traditional music, dancing, and cuisine
The trip was an unforgettable blend of history, mythology, and adventure for all who participated! You can view more photos from the trip here. For further information about Mercy's Latin program and how you can get involved, please contact Mrs. Lauren Marquard.
