Class of 2026 Salutatorian

Stella Coe - University of Michigan

It is an honor to recognize Stella as a member of Mercy’s 2026 Salutatorian class. Stella’s advice to her younger Mercy sisters is simple yet powerful: “Be your most authentic self.” What makes this advice especially meaningful is that Stella lives it each and every day.

Fellow students and teachers describe Stella as someone with a quiet inner strength and a steady confidence that shines through in all she does. She is a gifted communicator who possesses the courage to advocate for herself while also using her voice thoughtfully and compassionately in support of others. Stella leads with authenticity, grace, and conviction - qualities that have left a lasting impact on the Mercy community. Her positivity and optimism help create a welcoming environment wherever she goes, and this has been essential in the many leadership roles she has embraced throughout high school.

As Mock Trial Captain, BPA Captain, elected Senior Class Officer, Junior Classical League Officer, and President of the National Honor Society, Stella has proven herself to be an exceptionally dependable and trusted leader whose thoughtful organization, reliability, and strategic approach are deeply valued in every responsibility she undertakes. She has also served as captain of both the cross country and track teams, where she is often viewed as an extension of the coaching staff — always willing to step in, encourage others, and help wherever needed.

In her role as  Newsprint Editor-in-Chief, she has cultivated an environment where student voices are valued, creativity is encouraged, and collaboration thrives. In every setting, Stella leads not through authority alone, but through example, humility, encouragement, and trust. She has the rare ability to make others feel heard, valued, and capable.

Stella has accomplished all of this while completing seven AP courses alongside a rigorous honors curriculum and maintaining an impressive 3.95 GPA. She plans to attend the University of Michigan to study international studies on a pre-law track, with the ultimate goal of pursuing a career in international criminal prosecution.

Congratulations, Stella and thank you for sharing your talents with Mercy!
