2026 Latin Copley Day at UMICH

|
Mercy Latin students attended the 12th annual Copley Latin Day at the University of Michigan, where they explored the theme Classics and the Natural World. Highlights of the day included visits to the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, the university's papyrology collection, and the map library, which offered students a unique look at how the ancient world documented and understood nature. Students also participated in interactive sessions led by professors and doctoral students, exploring connections between classical studies, science, and the environment. The day was a reminder of how the study of Latin and the ancient world continues to enrich modern learning!
In addition to the day's academic programming, students competed in poetry composition, visual arts, and recitation contests, demonstrating their knowledge of Latin, mythology, and classical history. Their hard work and dedication paid off, and we congratulate our award winners.
