2025 Spring Break Latin Trip of a Lifetime
Over Easter Break, Mercy Latin students joined with Brother Rice students on an unforgettable 12-day journey through Italy, France, and Belgium! Through immersive cultural experiences and firsthand encounters with ancient and Renaissance art, students deepened their understanding of the Roman world and the enduring influence of the Latin language. Highlights included:
- Exploring the Vatican Museums and viewing Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling
- Analyzing Renaissance works at the Villa Borghese in Rome
- Riding bikes through Rome, discovering ancient ruins and hidden gems
- Walking in the footsteps of emperors while exploring the Colosseum and Roman Forum
- Creating their own frescoes during an art workshop in Florence
- Studying the incredible Greek and Roman sculptures at the Louvre
- Praying in the newly reopened Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris
- Cruising through the picturesque canals of Bruges
- Studying ancient influences on Belgian masterpieces at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels
