BACK TO BACK GOLF STATE CHAMPIONS
Mercy Golf won their second-straight MHSAA D2 girls state championship on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Forest Akers East with a two-day total of 636. Two golfers shot career bests: Abby Slankster posted a 70 on Saturday after shooting 80 in the first round and earned 5th place individually, while Macy Morphew shot a two-round 166. Lila Polakowski (158) was 12th on the leaderboard, Brinlee Nay shot a two-round 178, and Maeve Casey (73) and Marie Schueneman both contributed round scores.
VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPIONS
After dropping the first two sets, Mercy Volleyball made an unbelievable comeback to defeat Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern 13-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-12 at Kellogg Arena on Saturday, November 18, 2023, adding a second MHSAA D1 girls state championship to their first won in 2019. Campbell Flynn led Mercy with 41 assists, 15 digs and five kills. Kate Kalczynski had 25 kills and three digs. Cree Hollier finished with 10 kills and Angie Butler had 22 digs, seven kills, and three service aces.
SWIM & DIVE STATE CHAMPIONS
No. 1 ranked Mercy Swimming & Diving dominated the field with 326 points to win the MHSAA D2 girls state championship on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Holland Aquatic Center. It was the first swimming and diving state championship since 2019 and the 12th overall. Campbell Shore, Leah Greaves, Mackenzie Conway, Avery Tack won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:37.21. Amylia Higgins won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.57 and the 100-yard freestyle in 50.84.
