Quiz Bowl 2023 League Season

Mercy Quiz Bowl wrapped up its local league season and hosted the championships on February 15. At the end of the season, Mercy Varsity qualified for the State Championship. Novice Gold notably finished 7-3, earning 2nd place in their division. Congratulations to all 6 of Mercy teams on a hard-fought season!

Varsity Maroon (1-11, 18th place): Anna Boesch '23, Jaye McNeil '23, Caroline Turco '23

JV Maroon (6-5-1, 7th place):  Carson Kecskes '24, Miranda Lebednick '24, Ellery Long '24, Kelsey VanDenBerg '24, Zoé Vlahadamis '24

JV Gold (6-6, 9th place):  Haleigh Cameron '25, Isabella Casab '25, Hannah Heinzman '26, Riley Manwell '25, Isa Portillo '25

Novice Gold (7-3, 2nd place): Marilyn Medley '26, Joye Pyronneau '26, Sophia Segars '26, Natalie Terril '26

Novice Maroon (1-9, 6th place): Layan Ayad '26, Emily Capatina '26, Amari Nwamba '25, Chisom Nwoke '25

The league named the following students as Most Valuable Players for their teams: Linny Maier '23, Jaye McNeil '23, Isa Portillo '25, Chisom Nwoke '25, Sophia Segars '26, and Kelsey VanDenBerg '24. 

The team gathered for its annual banquet on February 28, where Haleigh Cameron '25, Carson Kecskes '24, Isa Portillo '25, and Kelsey VanDenBerg '24 were awarded their Varsity Letters for outstanding academic performance. In addition, the team's 7 graduating seniors were recognized for their dedication to the team.
