Class of 2024 Valedictorian
Alexis Rounds
The Mercy Class of 2024 Valedictorian selected by fellow classmates, teachers and administration is Alexis Rounds who was chosen for this honor because of her outstanding academic, character and co-curricular achievements. Overwhelmingly, students, staff and her fellow Val/Sal Finalists shared that Alexis embodies all that a graduating class hopes for in their commencement representative. She is described by her Mercy sisters as being incredibly intelligent and a true inspiration - a bright light who encourages others to be proud of their faith and grow closer to God. Her academic excellence and willingness to support and encourage others to be their best is admired by her Mercy sisters.
Alexis works diligently to contribute her gifts beyond classes. She has been active as a Human Relations Council Representative; National Honors Society Officer; Focus Hope Representative; One-Love Workshop Leader; and has been an impactful KAIROS leader. She participates in the International Thespian Society; Mercyaires; and the Spanish Honor Society. Alexis successfully completed a rigorous curriculum complete with 5 AP classes, and graduates Magna Cum Laude.
Aside from being an academic inspiration, Alexis also shared her artistic talents with us through the Mercy fall plays and spring musicals, notably with her hilarious mark as headmistress Agatha Trunchbull in Matilda. Her talents in writing and directing this year’s Black History Month Assembly through her BASE involvement was outstanding, resulting in an incredible and highly professional performance by all participants. Alexis understands that you don’t need to hold a formal position in order to be a leader - and her leadership is remarkable. Who else could motivate and inspire over 500 Mercy students to lift their voices together in song in celebration of Mass!
We congratulate Alexis on being Mercy Valedictorian! Alexis’ ultimate goal is to practice Criminal Law. We wish her the best as she first plans to attend Northwestern University in the fall to study Political Science, while also minoring in a more creative discipline, such as Film Studies to further explore and nurture her artistic passions!
Alexis, your outstanding academic record, leadership, inspiration and overall achievements make Mercy a better place.
