Farmington Hills Mercy secured second place in the Catholic League Central Division with its 62-39 win over host Livonia Ladywood in girls basketball Friday.
The Marlins, who finished 5-3 in division play, will play either Pontiac Notre Dame Prep or Allen Park Cabrini in the league tournament at 4 p.m. next Saturday at Riverview Gabriel Richard.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Joe Jones admitted that he knew exactly what he had, but he had no clue what to expect.
With all the talent he figured his roster would include, there was no real way to be sure.
“Not until they hit the ice,” the Farmington Hills Mercy hockey coach said. “You never really know until they get out there and start playing games.”
He knows now, and he’s loving it.

Farmington Hills Mercy started fast and never looked back Thursday night as it cruised to a 56-41win over host Harper Woods Chandler Park in girls basketball.
The Marlins posted 25 points in the first eight minutes and outscored the Eagles in the second quarter, 11-5, for a commanding lead at halftime, 36-16.

Farmington Hills Mercy avenged an earlier loss when it defeated Dearborn Divine Child on its own floor Tuesday in girls basketball, 52-42.
Senior Taylor Jones poured in a game-high 26 points to lead the Marlins, who were on the short end of a 52-43 score when the teams played earlier this month at Mercy.

Farmington Hills Mercy capitalized on its considerable depth, as well as its obvious talent, to win yet another girls hockey game Monday night.
The Marlins skated to their sixth consecutive victory with a 3-0 triumph over the visiting Walled Lake Wild at Eddie Edgar Arena.
