Saturday, the Mercy XC team battled the heat, humidity, and hills to place second overall at the Catholic Central Invite at Cass Benton Park. The ladies did exceptionally well and overall, we had seven course PRs.

The varsity runners took second place to Allen Park, but placed fourth, sixth, seventh, ninth, and tenth for the top five runners. In fact, in order to keep the score as close as possible, Megan Mallie had to stay in front of Allen Park's fifth runner. Not only was she able to do so, but also added ground between herself and the other runner which is difficult to do in the area of the course she was in. Reagan Sullivan had a very determined run as the humidity bothered her, but she was able to regroup and rebound to finish the race as well as she did.

On the JV side, the Mercy runners dominated. Grace McBride rebounded from her challenging race on Belle Isle on Tuesday to win the JV outright by over two minutes. She was followed by Grace Martin in second, and Jaye McNeil in fifth. Paige Wiaduck and Delilah Coe also ran course PRs for Cass Benton yesterday.
