Message from the Counseling Office

College Planning News & Events for Seniors

Dear Senior Parents/Guardians,

College Application Check-in Meeting

As your daughter works her way through her college applications, know that we are here to assist her as she needs. While we do have an open door policy and a student can schedule a time to meet with her counselor at any point, Counselors have scheduled an individual 15-minute meeting with each senior student to ensure that we have an opportunity to connect with all students face-to-face. The college check-in meetings are scheduled for September 12th through the 17th. Your daughter received her appointment time on a card that was attached to the packet of information she received at the Senior College Application Meeting on August 24th. Additional appointment reminders will be sent.

The focus of the meeting is to check-in with your daughter where she is at in the process. Counselors will offer guidance and assess if she needs additional individualized support. Please note, that due to the short time frame of the meeting we ask that the meeting remains between your daughter and her Counselor. Should you have questions or concerns about the application process you are welcome to contact your daughter's Counselor by phone or email, and/or have your daughter bring your collective questions to the meeting.

College Rep Visits at Mercy

This is a reminder that 50+ colleges and universities have an admissions representative visit Mercy in the fall to share information about their school. The visits are open to juniors and seniors and occur during the school day in September and October. These information sessions provide an opportunity for seniors to ask application/admission specific questions and to introduce themselves to the admissions representative.

Students must register online in Naviance Student at least 2 days in advance of the visit in order to attend.

The visit schedule is posted online HERE on Mercy's website and in Naviance Student either on the main dashboard under "What's New" or under the "Colleges" tab, then "Research Colleges," and then "College Visits."

Colleges are continuing to book their visits for this fall, so please check back frequently for an updated schedule.

Local/Regional College Information Sessions

Some colleges and universities plan local and regional events. Such local and regional college information events give prospective students and their families an opportunity to learn more about an institution, information on admissions and financial aid, and a chance to speak with Admissions Representatives. As we learn about upcoming events, we will post the information HERE on Mercy's website.

* This list is ever evolving. As we learn about events we will post this information, so check periodically for updates.*

Thank you,

The Mercy High School Counseling Staff
