We are proud to announce and celebrate one educator who exemplifies this mission in an extraordinary way. Selected by both students and colleagues, our 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year, Profesora Julia Cilona, has made a profound and lasting impact on the Mercy community.
Known for her rigorous yet compassionate approach to teaching Spanish, Mrs. Cilona creates a classroom environment where students feel truly seen, heard, and valued. Her students describe her classroom as more than just a place to learn—it is a community built on trust, respect, and encouragement. She takes the time to know each student personally, meeting them with empathy and understanding while inspiring them to grow.
Her passion for teaching is evident in the joy and energy she brings to her classroom each day. Students consistently share that her class is the highlight of their day, where learning is both meaningful and engaging. Beyond academics, she instills confidence, encouraging students to believe in themselves and strive to become the best versions of who they are.
