SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM MERCY PRESIDENT DR. CHERYL KREGER '66
It is with a heart full of gratitude and love for this community that I share my decision to retire as President of Mercy High School, effective June 30, 2026. After 56 years in education, and 16 incredibly fulfilling years leading Mercy, I look forward to this next chapter with appreciation for all that we’ve accomplished together.
Throughout my time here, I’ve been guided by the powerful words of Catherine McAuley: “No work of charity can be more productive of good to society than the careful instruction of women.” This belief has inspired every decision I’ve made and every step I’ve taken in service to our Mercy mission.
I want to express my deepest thanks to everyone who has supported Mercy and me throughout these years: our faculty and staff, whose dedication and talent uplift our students every day... our parents, who place their trust in us... our remarkable alumnae, who carry the Mercy spirit into the world... and our donors and friends of Mercy, whose generosity has sustained and strengthened our vision.
And to our Board of Trustees, past and present, thank you for your wise counsel, your unwavering support, and your personal encouragement. Together, we’ve built a stronger Mercy and positioned this school for an inspiring future.
Mercy has always been more than a school to me ~ it is home. As an alumna and a proud member of a three-generation Mercy family, I have been blessed beyond measure to witness the growth of our students, the strength of our community, and the enduring impact of our shared mission.
I am confident in the leadership of Mercy Education, our Board, and the exceptional faculty and staff who will continue to guide our school with care, integrity, and purpose. The spirit of sisterhood, academic excellence, faith, and service will continue to thrive.
As we move forward together this school year, please know I remain fully committed to advancing our goals and ensuring a smooth, thoughtful transition.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve this extraordinary community. It has truly been the honor of a lifetime.
Once a Mercy Girl, Always a Mercy Girl.
