New Dean is Mercy Alumna!
Mrs. Eleasha Mercer Tarplin '94 has received much-deserved praise this past spring at Mercy. Not only was Mrs. Tarplin named Teacher of the Year, she was also named Dean of Student Affairs. Mrs. Tarplin has taught at Mercy for 7 years and will welcome her own daughter, Elon, as a freshwoman for the 2014 – 2015 school year.
Mrs. Tarplin has been a Math and Business teacher at Mercy since 2007 and has been deeply involved in many Mercy activities and committees including: Mercy AdvancED Review Team; Mercy Advisory Council; Senior Class Co-Moderator and Prom Coordinator; Co-Moderator of the Black Awareness Society for Education; Co-Adviser to the Business Professionals of America; Strategic Planning Committee; and Alumnae Board Member. Mrs. Tarplin has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Xavier University and a Master of Arts in the Teaching of Mathematics from University of Detroit Mercy. Prior to coming to Mercy, she worked at the Academy for Business & Technology and Ford Motor Company. She will begin the position of Dean of Student Affairs July 1.

The Class of 2013 earned over $14 million in college scholarships and logged almost 26,000 service hours. We are so proud to welcome each class member to the Alumnae Association.

For eight years, women of the Mercy community have enjoyed an afternoon tea, while supporting tuition assistance at Mercy. The 9th Annual Tea for Tuition on April 28 promises to be a highlight of the spring season.
