|"Sound of Music" 2016||"Anything Goes" 2015|
The Performing Arts Department presents a major Broadway musical every March for the school and local community.
The 2018 spring production will be "Mary Poppins." Shows times are on March 9-10 at 7:30pm and March 11 at 2:00pm.
The jack-of-all-trades, Bert, introduces the audience to 1910 Edwardian London and the troubled Banks family living at 17 Cherry Tree Lane. Young Jane and Michael have sent many nannies packing when Mary Poppins flies in on the wind. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she teaches the family how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones she profoundly affects. Even grownups can learn a lesson from the “practically perfect” nanny who advises that “anything can happen if you let it.” The show boasts such numbers as Practically Perfect, A Spoonful of Sugar, Feed the Birds, Let’s Go Fly a Kite, Step in Time and the show-stopping Supercalifragilisticexpialidococious.
Mercy offers tap and jazz classes in the fall to any student (and boys too). There is a Schoology page where you can get more information. The code is M7HMJ-TRC4X. These classes are a great way to advance your dancing skills, get involved, and prepare for auditions for the Spring Musical, Mary Poppins. It is strongly recommended that you take the dance classes if you plan to audition for the spring musical, Mary Poppins. No experience needed. Boys are welcome.
