“42nd Street is the Cinderella story of Broadway.” This ‘show within a show’ is set in the 1930s, as small-town girl Peggy Sawyer tries to break into a New York show but has trouble getting noticed. Once in the show, she rehearses with the company until she accidentally trips the show’s diva, Dorothy Brock, who breaks her ankle. Peggy steps out of the chorus to save the show and, as a result,  become a Broadway star. This tap-dancing extravaganza boasts such song and dance numbers as Go into Your Dance, Dames, We’re in the Money, The Lullaby of Broadway and the show-stopping 42nd Street.
