International Thespian Society Troupe 5693

The Performing Arts Department’s was granted a charter from the International Thespian Society (ITS) in 1997, establishing Troupe 5693. In its 20 year history, 200+ students have been inducted into the organization. The purpose of the society is to promote and strengthen theater arts at Mercy High School and to recognize students who have performed meritorious work in the Performing Arts Department. Membership is open to all students who have participated in at least two Mercy main stage productions (fall play or spring musical) in two different aspects (acting and crewing) of theater arts and have accumulated a minimum of 100 hours of excellent work according to the International Thespian Society’s guidelines. Members are required to participate in both major Mercy productions in one aspects of the production process as well as in the troupe’s activities. The troupe’s Induction Ceremony is held each October and the Senior Banquet and Awards Ceremony concludes the school year in May.

TRI-M Music Honor Society

The Performing Arts Department also sponsors the TRI-M Music Honor Society, recognizing the achievements of music students in their music classes at Mercy High School as well as their outside music studies and performance experiences. Membership is open to all students who are registered for at least one semester of music class each year at Mercy and who have accumulated at least 40 points by being an active musician in school and in the community through private study, ensemble performance, and competitions. Members are required to participate in all TRI-M activities.
