The Varsity team earned another hard-fought CHSL Central Division win, with a 42-38 victory versus Regina, in front of a lively home crowd. The team trailed most of the way, but started to rally halfway through the 3rd quarter and was able to regain the lead in the 4th. Sarah Benson and Janelle McQueen each scored 4 points in the 4th quarter to give the team an offensive spark. For the game, Abbey Lovat had 9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists; Janelle had 6 points, 4 boards, 2 assists and 1 huge steal; Sarah had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block; Candice Leatherwood added 6 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and played some excellent pressure defense; Alexa Bahoura had 5 points and 9 rebounds; Lauren Reinhold had 5 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist; Sam Bauer had 5 points and 1 steal; and Elena Vlachos added 2 rebounds and an assist. With the victory, the team is now 7-1, 2-0, and will next play at home versus Divine Child on Friday, January 14.
The JV Marlins got their second win in the Central Division, with a 51-36 victory over Regina. The young ladies competed very hard, ran the floor, made their shots and played with much more intensity than Tuesday night. All 12 players played and many of them played with a determination that had not been displayed before. The team is now 7-1, 2-0.
