Congratulations to sophomore Candice Leatherwood for being one of twenty players from the entire state to be selected to participate in the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan free throw contest during the state finals. Selection was based on free throw accuracy during the regular season, when Candice shot an outstanding 80% from the free throw line.

The Varsity Marlins lost in overtime, 55-53 to North Farmington, in district play. Candice Leatherwood paced the team with a double-double (14 points and 10 assists); Allie Gorcyca added 10 points and 6 rebounds; Sarah Benson tallied 9 points and 8 boards; Sam Bauer had 8 points and 5 rebounds; Sierra LaGrande chipped in with 8 points and 4 boards; and Tyler Parlor had 4 points and 5 rebounds. The Marlins finish the season with a fine record of 15-6.

The Varsity team concluded the regular season with a come-from-behind 52-45 win over Detroit Pershing in the Operation Friendship consolation game. Candice Leatherwood was outstanding, scoring 16 points, along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists, and did a terrific job of handing Pershing's relentless pressure. Sarah Benson had a nice second half and tallied 16 points; Sierra LaGrande was very good in the second half, scoring all 8 of her points; Allie Gorcyca added 7 points; Sam Bauer had 5 points and 5 boards; Tyler Parlor had 4 rebounds and Paige Roberts gathered 2 rebounds.
